I was one of the people that were able to confirm the existence of this bug, and like you I always have Autosave turned OFF.
I have a hunch that the bug may not be dependent upon the state of the autosave feature. I suspect based upon my recollections of what happened when I was experiencing this behavior, that if one follows the procedure given in the message to Darcy, but with autosave inactivated and does a manual save at the point where the procedure speaks of waiting for Autosave, that the bug would also occur.
HOWEVER, it's been a while since I experienced the bug personally, and I may be wrong about it.

I've never used Autosave, ever. I've never experienced the text-block bug either on my end (though I see the corrupted text block in Darcy's file).
But I HAVE experienced the file over-write bug, which I understand some think may be related, and it DID happen when I edited a text block in one of the open files. I may have left the text frame open when I saved (I sometimes do that, as I didn't see the importance of it one way or the other) and perhaps that affected the file's stability.
Perhaps unrelated, but has anyone ever saved a file with the Page Layout Tool selected, only to have Finale crash or freeze the next time the file is opened? This happens to me regularly, so regularly that I have a mental note to select a different tool when I close a file. Also, the only times Finale ever has crashed on me while printing is when the Page Layout tool is open when I hit command-P. This is one time in a hundred, but when I have a lot of small arrangements to print, I often hit command-P over a hundred times, so I see the problem. I also usually have many files open at the same time in these circumstances, so that might be a factor, too.
