One of the smart, smart cookies at Coda sent this to me yesterday:
The overwrite problem happens if you have a text
block OPEN for editing and auto save kicks in. Any text block that shares
the same "Raw TextID" in all open documents will be changed.
I can now reproduce from scratch:
Open up two docs without libraries
In the first one, create a text block that says "File A" In the second one, create a text block that says "File B" Save both files Set auto save to 1 minute. Double-click File A's handle Let auto save do its thing. Go to document # 2 and redraw the screen. Kablam!
They got it! Brilliant! My faith in Coda is restored!
Go ahead and try it if you want to see this bug for yourself. Don't know if it's reproducible in Windows versions, but this procedure works on MacFinale going back to at least MacFin2002.
I'm *so* happy this has been isolated -- hopefully, now, it won't be too difficult to fix.
The workaround, in the meanwhile, is to turn off autosave. It should (knock on wood) now be safe to go back to working on multiple simultaneous documents in MacFin (provided you remember to save manually).
Cheers,
