I did "Crazy for you" in 2001. There is no full score. I was the music
director for the production playing the piano from the rehearsal score. I
had one synth player who played from the synth book plus a bunch of pickup
players to make an orchestra of about 10 or so.

This is an extremely demanding show. There are several big keyboard
numbers. The saloon piano part is in the synth book but sounds better
played on a real piano. The 1st act finale is a killer! Seven minutes of
"I Got Rhythm" full-tilt. "Slap that bass" and "Nice work if you can get
it" are also very busy. We took a big cut in dance bridge of "Slap".
Someplace in the second act are two or three pages from "Concerto in F". I
went into the show after it had been in rehearsal for a few weeks. Reading
through the 2nd act when I came across the passage I turned to the
producer/director '"Concerto in F" costs extra!' And I got it!

It is a fun show but very tiring. We did several double-headers (matinee
and evening) and I was always dead tired after the second show. I kid you
not, "I Got Rhythm" is physically demanding. You get a very short break at
the beginning of the second part (32 measures or so of tap routine). But
when you come back in it's non-stop to the finish. There are also some very
abrupt meter and key changes that will trip you up if you're not careful.

As I recall the piano-conductor score is well marked and the parts are
pretty clean.

Alas, as with most Broadway releases, the score you see is the score you
get!
