I wish the articulation placement algorithms where smart enough to place the articulations according to what the stem direction *really* is, rather than insisting on using what it *thinks* it should be. I often override stem directions to what is "incorrect" but Finale is too stupid to know, and places the articulations according to the side where the stem would be by default. This means that the articulations are often upside down -- dragging doesn't help. The only solution is to maintain duplicate articulations for reversed stems. The information is there. Finale should use it. -- David W.
