Yes Macintosh can.  (Back story, Adobe and Apple created postscript together
in the late 80's as a means of having a file that could be read on any
platform�a portable document format.  Consequently, apple has natively
supported creating postscript files, and when the technology became
available, converting them into pdf's�our current portable document format.)

And, if you're using OSX, you have native, finder-level support for creating
a PDF.  Just click the button that says "Save as PDF" or "Preview" in the
print dialog.
