Subject: Re: [MLA-L] FW: [Finale] Mahler in Prague
By chance, I have received from friends in the Czech republic a book
giving detailed information about all houses, concert halls, etc.
connected with Mahler in the Czech Republic: _In Gustav Mahler's
Footsteps in Bohemia and Moravia_ (Prague: Milan Paka, 2003); unpaged.
Under "4" in the Prague Section, I find: "The Blue Star Hotel [Hotel
Modra hvezda], Gustav Mahler's home at the beginning of his engagement
at the German Theatre in 1885 and later in May and September 1908; at
the corner of Na prikopech and Senovazna Streets, demolished in 1935; a
bank is now on this site. "

This is miles out of topic, but I thought first to ask this group.
It's about Mahler: two weeks before his symphony n. 7 would be
performed
for the first time, Mahler closed himself in a Hotel's room and passed
the time examining the orchestration. It was in 1906, in Prague, and the
hotel was called Modr Hvezda (Blue Star). I'm looking for that hotel,
it's address, even if it's not a hotel anymore. Can anobody give a clue?
Thank you
Giovanni Andreani
