You need to assign the expression to a staff list. The staff list can be defined so that the expression shows on certain staves in the score (say, over the flute staff and over the violin 1 staff) and over all staves in extracted parts. Actually, if you've got a piano part in there, you can set it up so that it only displays over the top piano staff in an extracted part and not the bottom staff.
I usually set up a staff list called "Rehearsal Marks" or something like that which I can use for tempo indications, rehearsal letters, and so forth.
