Hi everyone----I'm having a problem using Hyperscribe for real time midi entry using my Fatar SL-990 going thru an Edirol midi interface and into the usb port on my iBook. I'm using Finale 97b and my question is, do I need to use a midi keyboard with internal sounds? (my keyboard is strictly a midi controller and uses Reason software sound banks for its sounds)
Finale is not "hearing" my keyboard even though the Edirol interface flashes on and off indicating the presence of a signal.
Also, would it have to do with the fact that this version of Finale opens using Mac OS 9 and everything else I use is configured on Mac OS X?
FYI---the Fatar SL-990 is an 88 key, velocity sensitive midi controller with no internal sounds.
You don't need a controller with internal sounds to get the keypress data into Finale -- if the light on your interface is flashing indicating that it is receiving data as you play on your Fatar keyboard, then the problem lies somewhere in your computer.
I don't understand Macs but one question to ask is whether the interface shows up in OS9, or is it installed to work in OSX only? When you run Finale, what choices do you see in the Midi Devices dialog? Is the Edirol interface showing up?
I don't know the answer about how to get it to work if it is currently showing up in the possible midi devices to select in the Midi Devices dialog of Finale, but I do know that you don't need to use a keyboard with internal sounds. That's not part of your problem.
