Is there a need for an open source font? Or is everyone
happy with the fonts offered with Finale and/or making slight adjustments thereto?

The proposed Unicode mappings for music symbols can be viewed
at:

I've been looking at project Xemo, an open source notation project:
http://www.xemo.org/
and see that one need there is an open source font, the
founders of the project had slated as a task creating such a font.
The Xemo project has withered, though one of the principals indicated to me they are considering placing it on SourceForge. I've been
examining and testing their code and see that creating postscript output therefrom is possible if an appropriate font is available.

I am wondering if members of the Finale community perceive a need for
a font that is open source.
