I would do this as a measure expression, attached to the last measure so that it always shows up on the last page, regardless of what page that is. I would drag it into position individually on the extracted parts.

You could also do it as a measure attached text block (create it in scroll view and it will stay attached to the measure, like measure expressions do) and it will still be draggable in page view (in Fin 2005, anyway, and maybe in Fin 2004, too.)

For the enclosed rehearsal letters, the JazzText font has this eventuality taken into account, but you don't get circled letters, you get the built-in squarish enclosures. With the new mixed fonts in measure expressions, it is a snap to insert a boxed C, and even a boxed A2 is typed as {A2} (make sure you use the curly parentheses, which are shift-squareparentheses) so everything is easy and doable in one expression.

If you insist on circled letters, you are going to have to do some very careful placement. I would include the C and A2 in the enclosed text expression, uncircled, but with extra space to allow for the circles. Then I would create the circle separately as a measure expression (one or two spaces as text, circle enclosure), and place it carefully around the C and the A2 in turn, at 400% viewing. You are going to have to repeat this on the extracted parts, and then again if anything ever moves in the layout. This ends up as 3 measure expressions to position; the text and two circles, but it may be the only way.

This is one of the drags about the JazzFont; if you don't want to do things it's way, you are in for some touchy mouse work. Edited a chord suffix lately, for example?

I want to add an instruction to the end of a score which says "Play C as interlude between solos. Play A2 to go out."

Here's the rubs: I want to place this in the score in such as a way as to appear on extracted parts, on the last page. Also, I want C & A2 to appear in circles, as it does on the score. Lastly, I'd like to enclose the whole instruction.

If I do this as a measure expression, I would have to create 2 separate measure expressions, since I can circle only 1 letter in each expression, using the enclosure feature. Unfortunately, I can't then enclose the expression, either.

If I do this as a text block, I can enclose the entire block, but I can't have circled rehearsal letters. I can also have this placed on page 2, which will work for most of the parts, but is clunky-looking on the score.

Thanks!

Giz
