My ties are flatter than my slurs. This has to do partly with the fact that ties avoid stafflines with their centers, while slurs don't. This can lead to overly arched ties in certain cases, which I try to avoid. It also makes sense to have slightly flatter ties since there won't be any notes in between the tied notes (at least I cannot think of a situation where this would occur).

A question for those of you who use so-called European ties: do you also use an identical or a similar contour for ties and slurs, or is it only the placement (on the notes rather than in between) that is the same?

Thanks,

Dennis
