I am not a programmer, but does this make any sense? Regardless of how
complex the program is, the end printed result is from font characters and
defined shapes. That does not seem more complex to do from one program to
another.

I don't think that smart-shapes are defined shapes in the same sense that shape expressions are defined shapes -- I think smart-shapes are very complex graphics. As are staff lines.


However, they USED to have EPS working, so it speaks more to the gutting of the Finale development team in favor of SmartMusic development, than to the actual complexity of EPS exporting. They will put a lot of development dollars into building smartmusic capabilities into Finale (let's see a show of hands, how many of the members of this list are actually using the Performance Assessment capability of Finale2005?) but the won't put development dollars into hiring a programmer who understands EPS graphics! They probably laid off the only programmer who understood how to do it!

Let's hear it for corporate bean-counters!
