Chuck was kindly trying to help me off list and I realized I neglected to mention one important thing in the beginning that why I am having trouble with the shaded objects.
It's not about my work, but rather my students'. These shaded objects bothers my students, and they keep blaming on them when they make mistakes :-) I can't blame them, tho. Even I give white or light gray, it does make reading layer 1 notes somewhat annoying.
Up until Finale 3.2, I don't remember hid object with 'o' ever showed up in shade, or did they?
This thread I started was for a feature request to be able to assign chord to beat, which might require a beat holder as a new object. I was wondering if I am the only one needing this. So far I feel I am alone.
I'm confused Hiro, I understand why you need to do this and I addressed in my previous post....it can be solved by using different durations of rests (as your "beat holders") and then attaching the chords to whichever rests you need them to be attached....
for example...I have a chord on beat one of a measure in 4/4 and I need the chord to change on the and of 2 and the and of 4 (perhaps I have backround kicks going on under a solo for example and I want the rhythm section to anticipate the chord changes with the horns.) I would, in layer 4 put a dotted quarter note rest and then and eight rest, then another dotted quarter note rest and another eighth note rest. I could then attach chords to the first quarter note and both the eighth note rests in layer 4, hide the rests using the plugin...etc. etc...
If the gray notes bother you, you can turn them off in View>Hide Hidden notes and Rests...
Maybe I am still misunderstanding what you need to do...????
Best,
Karen
