I think I figured out the problem with the list archives; it seems
that they've been made private and password-protected. Go to
http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale and click on "Finale
Archives; you'll be prompted for your email address and password, and
then you can view the archives at
http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/private/finale/ (You can probably go
straight to the second URL and enter in your password, but I found
this out by starting at the Finale Info Page).

I don't agree with the decision to privatize the archives; this way,
Google won't be able to catalog them and they will no longer be
searchable. The archives do mask email addresses as "asdf at asdf.com"
(though not for the entire history of the list; there was a fairly
short lapse during which pipermail put addresses up unencrypted), and
the actual subscriber list has always been password-protected.

It seems that OpenSubscriber.com has started creating a much more
protected version of the archives (searchable from Google with
"site:opensubscriber.com [email protected] [searchterms]"), but that
only goes back to last October.

I would really like the archives to go back to being public; searching
them with Google has always been useful to me. In any case, the
privatization is the issue behind the inability to access the archives
via the old URL.
