I think this was an excellent realistic post.

I played in 2 high school bands, college band and (occasionally) orchestra, and taught in 3 different high schools over a course of 10 years.

The best musician I met in college was a violinist who went to Amsterdam to play in the Koncertgebow, I do not know what happened after that.

My best high school student was in the McDonald's All-America Band, went to college and majored in music, last I heard, she was selling real estate.
