With due respect, if you copy anything from anything, you can't call it 'clean install'. Clean install start with initialized volume, and install a virgin OS. I do it to save time on troubleshooting in a critical schedule later. Clean install is also a great opportunity to do selective install. I found many stuff I don't need to install anymore. I also keep a list the stuff I need to install in general, such as certain tools and office stuff. The latest updaters are copied as a backup on a network server so I can update reinstalled apps systematically. I also have a serial number database handy for restoring them. Once you systemize this, it's really nothing on Mac. I reinstall Win2K test machine every month off backup image. I _rebuild_ clean Win2K test machine every 6 month.
