It's not your esthetic reaction that's being criticized, but your truly illogical point about school funding. The money spent here would not exist to *be* spent were there no public art installation to generate the revenue in sales that supported its creation. It's illogical to then claim that it's a shame that the money is spent on art instead on schools precisely because without the art there could be no moneys to be spent on *anything*. Now, you could lament the fact that people will spend their money on the ancillary artifacts created around this art installation but don't seem to want to spend it on educating our children, and that would be perfectly logical. But that's not what you said (though it may very well have been what you meant). -- David W.
