What version of Finale are you on? I don't remember when the Selection Tool showed up, but it has been there since at least 2004, maybe before.

It might be a text block, created with the Text Tool (looks like a capital A) in Page View.

If that doesn't clear it, send me the file off-list and I will look at it.

I'll bet it's a Text block, perhaps added in Scroll view
so that it is
not editable in Page view.

But no matter, that's what the Selection Tool is for (the
arrow, first
tool you see most likely.) Select the Selection Tool,
click once on an
item to select it (and move it or delete it as you like) or
double-click to change to the tool that created it.
