Karen,

Thanks very much. I'll post more specific questions as I work on this.

Don

Hi Don,

There are many ways to do this sort of thing...using layers, and by
getting to know the special tools palette as a place to start.

As far as alignment goes, I would investigate Finale's ability to
have separate time signatures on different staves (this is done in
the Staff Attributes dialogue box) and/or by hiding notes and rests.
Additionally, you can have Finale display a different time signature
than what you are actually using at the time by clicking on More
Choices in the time signature dialogue window. Or you can choose to
hide the time signature all together using the measure tool.
Landscape layout can be specified in the Page Layout tool.

This is all very general I know....if you can post specific questions
for each thing you are trying to do when you get stuck, I think
listers will be able to give you more detailed answers. Hope this
gets you started at least.

Take care,

Karen

I'm looking for advice on generating Schenkerian reductive analytic
notation with Finale. Any and all advice is welcome. Managing slurs,
extended beams, carets over numbers, etc. I'm particularly
interested in alignment of the piece being analyzed on one system,
with graphic analysis aligned on another (probably in landscape
orientation).

Thanks,

Don McDonnell
