A year or two ago, I did some experimenting with grace note spacing to
try to figure out what was going on. Unfortunately, I didn't keep good
notes, but I remember that once you figured out the bizarro logic of
how Finale was attempting to respace the grace notes, there were
methods you could use that would work out and not lead to trouble.
I think it has something to do with how you apply the nudging
adjustments, and Finale's errant attempt to compensate for your nudges,
but I can't recall exactly how it worked.
In an attempt to jog my memory, I just now tried some quick experiments
(in FinMac 2k2) and -- strange as it seems -- I was unable to get any
grace note spacing to come out wrong. If you want to distill a file
down to just a couple of measures with examples of grace notes that are
spacing screwily and send that file to me, I'll take a look and see if
I can't diagnose. I'm sort of curious about it myself, so I don't mind
spending a little time on the problem.
