So you've got a case where you enter identical rhythms and get non-identical spacing before doing any nudging? If so, that's what I'd like to see a sample of. (Or maybe you can just describe it in email text?)
My thinking is that Finale's grace note spacing, although often ugly, is at least consistent. My goal here is to understand it's internal logic so as to have a pattern of practices that lets us get decent results so long as we remember to do it the right way.
I'm interested in neither criticizing nor justifying Finale's behavior. The program is what it is; I just want to figure out how to best use it as it is.
I can't get to it until much later today. I'll try to remember.
No need to go to any extra trouble over it. Just next time the problem comes up, save a copy of the file for me.
