Thanks very much to both of you. Darcy, yes, I use TGTools all the time,
and I do especially like the harmonics maker. Very beautifully done, and a
real time saver.

Raymond, your suggestion sounds like a good one. And as for your question,
according to the Garritan website, both Advanced GPO and GOS will have or
already have string harmonics.

After I wrote, I found some excellent string harmonics, both natural and
artificial, for each of the string instruments in ensemble, in Reason. I
still turn to Reason as a backup for things like this (I forgot that the
harmonics were there), as well as their huge collection of percussion
instruments, and also their ability easily to add any sound you like, as
long as you have a sound font, or, for simple sounds, even just an .aif.

Now comes the tricky part of trying to get Reason and GPO both running at
the same time. I have been able to do it in Digital Performer, as long as
the quality of the ambience plugin is set really low, plus some combination
of a limited set of instruments with polyphony turned way down and the music
not being too busy (I am on a Mac G4 PB 1.33 ghz, 1.5 gb RAM). I look
forward with great anticipation to the release of a GPO Kontakt player
optimized for Mac!! Does anyone know if the included GPO with Finale 06
will be better optimized for Mac performance?

Raymond and Darcy, thanks again,

David Froom
