I totally agree with this. More and more I feel NI wants to eliminate
competitors using Finale. The file created with GPO is totally
unplayable with any other standard MIDI devices in my experiences so
far. I can't believe I am still unable to save HP setting for GPO use
and non GPO use. I must think this is intentional.

First of all, the concept of sampler has been twisted at this point.
Sample player such as Kontakt Player and Sampler such as Kontakt has a
huge difference. Sampler offers full editing capability. I too think
Sample Player is rather dumb. The only place I would benefit from it is
when I am working on a road with my Powerbook alone.

We are indeed living in a rapid technology changing world. While DSP
plug-ins has been sold to bedroom audio amateurs like a hot-cake, there
are at least 4 major DSP plug-in companies created add-on DSP processors
to take your host computer's cpu stress off. I have been using all the
Waves products for many years. Every upgrade, their CPU power
requirement goes up and up, then they just came out with external DSP
processor boxes for their own DSP plug-ins so now you can off-load your
CPU hit.

Believe or not, there has been such a device for VSTi:

With this devise, you will be able to run VST Virtual Instrument of your
choice outside of your host computer CPU.
