Smart Music SoftSynth??? No wonder you're disappointed!
Darcy, be fair, you asked him how things are set up and he told you.
GPO isn't a choice in the MIDI OUT dialog, at least not in WinFin2006.
GPO is enabled in an entirely separate dialog, and in no way ever shows
up in the MIDI OUT dialog.
He can still be using GPO output and STILL show SmartMusicSoftSynth in
the Midi OUT setting.
