I forgot to include the link! Fatigue - sorry.

My mind is dizzy from going through 500 posts that appeared in my
absence since last Wednesday, so please forgive me if I have
misunderstood or overlooked something, but I seem to remember
reading that there is the anticipation of an issue of smooth
integration of the full versions of GPO and GPO Jazz library - that
they will not integrate as transparently as the GPO "lite" that
comes with 2006. Well, I just had a phone conversation with Gary
in which he assured me that this would not be the case, and that
that is what has delayed the release of GPO Jazz. They are working
on that now and expect to achieve the same level of transparency
that exists with the included sounds. Please don't blame me if
that turns out not to be the case, but the conversation was
reassuring.
I heard some of the jazz samples on a site that Gary put up, and
they sound OK to me, except for the drum set with sticks, and I
think that is a result of Gary hiring a drummer whose idea of
tuning drums is to avoid all resemblance to the sound of any
classic jazz drummer - Max, Philly Joe, Elvin, Roy Haynes -
whoever. The drums are totally dead - in the style of some rock
drummers (my un-favorites). Go here and check it out and let Gary
know, if you agree (while there's still time to do something about
this. I know someone here in Bellingham, easily accessible to
Gary, who could provide perfectly acceptable jazz drum sounds for
Gary to record, if he wants to correct this.)
The drum kit with brushes sounds acceptable to me. The bass sounds
are OK - for samples. The second set is my bass, and too thin
sounding for my taste, but we are going to work on getting some
more fundamental into the spectral balance.
I am only a part of this as much as Gary is interested in including
me. He does ask my opinion, so there's some effect, but final
decisions are not mine to make.
I am trying to get what I'd like to use, and I'm hoping that might
satisfy the needs of others too.
That's the report.
