Something mysterious is still wrong. I quit Finale and re-opened the
document, and there was the problem again.
So I tried Darcy's suggestion of using the selection tool on an
existing tuplet, and that works as expected. Selecting existing
chords with that tool also does what it is supposed to, but the Chord
Tool and the Tuplet Tool have stopped working again, and I am baffled.
I'm not going to worry about this and get all worked up about it.
I'll just keep messing with it, and if it persists, I'll call MM on
Monday to see what they have to say about it. I don't have a "feel"
for where the problem lies.
