The real danger was with autosave and the text block bug (not the
file overwrite bug) in Fin2004. Autosave is not good when working
with multiple files open in Fin2004 for that reason -- the autosave
writes in all the unwanted changes caused by the text block bug,
corrupting your auto-saved files.
Autosave has been a real lifesaver for me in Fin2005, though,
precisely because of the file overwrite bug -- when it happens,
provided I notice right away, I can revert to the most recently
autosaved version.
[At one point, I did have a theory that the file overwrite bug only
struck when autosave was on, but that turned out not to be the case.]
I'm still not sure if the file overwrite bug is still a problem in
Finale 2006, as I haven't done a full part extraction in 2k6 yet.
When I do, I'll let you know. I do know that the file overwrite bug
is *supposed* to be fixed in Finale 2006.

know whether this bug is finally gone in 2k6?
