I am always slowed down by Finale's extensive use of the mouse throughout, and happy for anything I can do with only the keyboard. As said, YMMV, although I have extensive experience with figured bass - it is one of the things I do very regularly.

BTW, here is a 6 figure example, admittedly unique, taken from Jean Féry Rebel, Les Elements, the very first note:
