On Finale 2004b:

Is it possible to adjust something between MAC and PC so that all letters in
the Icelandic alphabet:

http://www.simnet.is/gardarj/misc/alph.htm

appear correctly on both platforms when sending a file back and forth
between MAC and PC?

The problematic letters are the upper and lower cases of:

(1) D with the line
(2) Y with the 'accent'
(3) The letter after Z.

When typing on PC with Regional Settings set to Icelandic, the only
remaining problematic letters remain the Y's with the 'accents'. This can be
solved by typing ALT+0134 and ALT+0135 instead. On PC, they display as
crosses, but these characters then display correctly on the MAC when the
file is sent there.

When the same file is saved on the MAC, then brought to the PC and opened,
the crosses are again displayed for Y's with 'accents'. This is to be
expected. However, the characters (1) and (3) then display as

<ETH>
<eth>
<THORN> and
<thorn>

which problem is not solved by Options --> Data Check --> Convert Text for
Windows (this makes for an even worse situation)

nor through use of TGTools Character Set Conversion, since the character
strings shown above are 5 and 7 characters long (formatting, goodbye!)

When the mentioned Icelandic characters are *typed* into the MAC computer
and then opened here, they can partly be fixed by TGTools Character Set
Conversion since they appear on PC as one character each. However, the
letters "(3) The letters after Z" are both displayed on the PC by the SAME
CHARACTER.

Who knows the solution?

Liudas
