Still, it struck me as rock music for people who don't like rock music, and Baroque music for people who don't like Baroque music, Kind of like Claude Bolling's music that he wrote for Rampal and Yo Yo Ma, both of which I've played (the Flute Suite with Bolling and Rampal at Carnegie Hall, years ago). Bolling and Rifkin are both fine musicians, but I find these particular projects neither fish nor fowl, and I am mystified by their success.
