But the results *are* right on many of my other files (though it's 
off by a second or two compared to what some of the programs I have 
say about the lengths of the files) -- the problem is that it's

That's what I suspected, but saving them in a sequencer doesn't make 
a difference -- the results are still wrong.

I guess I am going to have to dig into the class to see where it's 
producing the erroneous information.
