Hesitating to reply to my own message, I just want to clarify any
impression I may had given that I think Darcy is making up his report on
MakeMusic's being able to reproduce this bug.
I have no doubts that Darcy's report is accurate. My complaints have to
do more with the corporate culture which prevents customer support from
being notified about internal acknowledgement of the existence of such a
devastating bug, or prevents their public acknowledgement of it even if
they do know about it.
The corporate culture which would deny to Hiro what they have privately
acknowledged to Darcy is not a good thing.
I just wanted to clarify that point -- I don't doubt Darcy's report at
all, nor do I doubt Javier's report.

You know, I would think the question of whether or not the bug is
"real" would have been settled when MacSupport confirmed that they
could reproduce it in-house.
But even after you reported that they had confirmed it to you, Javier
Ruiz reported that he had been told MakeMusic was NOT aware of the
problem and his money was being refunded since he had purchased the
upgrade only 2 months earlier.
I posted a message concerning this curious thing -- that you had
reported that an insider told you MakeMusic was aware of the bug and
Javier reporting that MakeMusic told him they were NOT aware of the bug,
on October 20th.
So while you may be feeling assured that MakeMusic is aware of the bug,
not all at MakeMusic seem to be aware of the bug, and Javier obviously
hadn't been assured that the bug was real until it bit Hiro, the last
great doubter.
It seems to me that MakeMusic's inter-office or inter-personnel
communications need to be improved. Or else Darcy has an inside track
to someone that nobody else has access to, perhaps even from within the
company, or the company is trying to maintain a united "it's not our
fault, we can't reproduce it" facade until they have a working fix for
the problem.
Nothing else explains why Javier was told they weren't aware of the
problem after Darcy reported that he was told they could reproduce it.
