Then it basically *is* borderline useless.

Huh.

What's the point of adding something that's basically only cosmetic, 
and doesn't actually improve the capabilities for controlling saved 
playback? This seems to me to betray an "emperor has no clothes" 
situation with regard to the attempt to make Finale more flexible for 
playback. If MakeMusic really wants people to use Finale as a 
sequencer, then they've got to do better than put in a Potemkin 
village mixer.
