I did a simple installation and setup in one rather long and complex
score - everything except the drum set (because I have no sense that
I have a notation system that will result in the correct instruments
playing from the position of the notes on my drum set staff).
First impression: Saxes - pretty decent, though I miss a little of
the buzz I'm used to hearing in the altos. Tenor and bari sound OK.
I loaded the Key switch versions of the brass but get no mute
switches when they are indicated in the score???? I must be missing
something.
The overall balance among the instruments is within reason, and the
"mellow" guitar suits my needs approximately.
The bass sound - me! But it doesn't sound right yet. A little too
much attack - or maybe too short a decay. I tweaked that a little -
to 65%, but it's still not quite right. Those of you who were
thinking they'd get my playing - sorry. Can't quite package that yet.
Anyway, it's a start - and better by far than the substitute
orchestral sounds I have been using up to now.
