This shouldn't be a problem, since Finale lets you choose which systems to optimize:

1. Make sure that all the systems of the first and second movements are optimized, but none of the systems of the third and fourth movements. 2. In Scroll view, add the new staff, dragging other staves if necessary to accommodate it. You can drag staves around, even change the order in Scroll view, but any optimized systems in Page view will not be affected. 3. Once you've entered the music in the third and fourth movements, you can optimize these systems as well, making sure not to re-optimize the systems in the first and second movements.

FinMac 2K4. Halfway through a symphony, I've discovered that I will need an additional percussion staff for the last two movements.

I realize that I can just add the needed staff and optimize it out of the first two mvts, but how do I do this without disturbing the numerous staff position adjustments I've made to individual systems in those movements? Especially, how can I avoid losing adjustments I've made to the relative positions of the existing percussion staff and the staves that now adjoin it?
