Very briefly (and I'm sure others will have other opinions): The main benefit of upgrading from 2005 to 2006 is the new Finale GPO sounds, which can make your playback files sound much better if you spend a certain amount of time tweaking; there were not many notational improvements in 2006. However, since you're on 2002, I would wager that there are enough improvements in the 4 intervening versions to justify an upgrade. I have trouble keeping track of what was introduced in each version; maybe someone else has a list?

On the third hand, someone recently posted on this list that Fin2007 is rumored to concentrate on notational improvements, so if you are currently happy with 2002 and your main focus is notation, perhaps it would be worth waiting to see what that brings.

(I upgraded to 2006 from 2004 and have been satisfied with that decision, even though I haven't made much use of GPO.)

Aaron.
