The only problem with that is the ever changing and never well-defined nature of those age groups.
There are schools where the middle-school band can play rings around other schools' high school honors wind ensembles.
And there are college level players who can't play as well as some middle school bands.
So merely defining potential ranges according to age group seems to me to be ineffectual.
