There are schools where the middle-school band can play rings around
other schools' high school honors wind ensembles.
And there are college level players who can't play as well as some
middle school bands.
So merely defining potential ranges according to age group seems to me
to be ineffectual.
I can't believe anybody's even *suggested* defining such things
according to age groups! (I this morning I had a bunch of school kids
sightread through half of the Holberg Suite. I presume that would be
labelled 'professional'? ;) )
