To be honest, I haven't got a clue what this option is supposed to do,
it certainly doesn't seem to do what one expects. Probably just another
one of those bugs that never got fixed...
2) Is there anywhere one can set the default for this?
3) What is generally preferred?
I edit such slurs manually.
