Mike, has your computer gone to sleep with Finale still running? That's been one of the situations in which such things happen to me. In my case it totally loses communication with the USB MIDI device, requiring a total restart of the system. That's in addition to the "Finale is expecting..." box.

Agreed, and it's not nice to hear that this bug still is present in Finale 2006. :(
