Are you referring to on the screen, or on a print out? Screen resolutions are much coarser than printer resolutions, and may show these types of artifacts. Another place this is sometimes evident, is on staff lines. I have personally had the experience of seeing ~.pdf files where the staff lines are not uniformly spaced on the screen, but are on the printout.
