Speaking as a trombone player, I can report that (more in years past, not so 
much these days) the trombone section's collective mind, seeing FFFFF, often 
includes:
    1) Let the games begin!
    2) Are we aiming directly enough at the viola section?
    3) Looks like I won't have to clean out the instrument this week
    4) Trumpets? We don't need no stinkin' trumpets...
etc etc
Of course the flip side of this, doesn't the section recognize the PPPPP 
symbol?... of course: it ends up being as TACET...

Dynamics are not even just volume of sound, like decibels are, as much as we
