Hiro: Thanks. Yeah, an awful lot of stuff came down with the Apple tech guy, but I think one of the first things he tried was removing a couple of the files you mention from the Lib/Pref folder. Didn't mess around with the cache, as I recall. I may find out more from the guys in the shop and will ask them about the crash log, etc. When I get it back, I may well have more questions. That usually indicates your internet plist or cache is corrupted.  You
throw them away and new and healthy ones will be created.  This was a
common problem under OSX10.2, while I have not heard of it lately so I
might be off base here.

Have you tried removing them with your Apple tech?  The list of plists
in my Lib/Pref are:
com.apple.internetconfig.plist
com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist
com.apple.internetconnect.plist
com.apple.preference.internet.plist

Re: Finale, have you taken a look in system.log or crash.log?  It might
give you a clue.
