Because they are apples and oranges, this statement is meaningless. Here is my take on it:

MacOS is like SDI in that neither has a framing window.
MacOS is like MDI in that only one icon appears in the Dock, no matter how many documents are open. MacOS is like neither SDI nor MDI in that the application menu is not part of the document window.

In a world of multiple monitor setups, MDI is an abomination (at least the framing window part). I wish WinFin offered an SDI option.

Of course, this ends with the Intel Macs. But DOS support won't last forever, either.

I suppose we Mac users can take cold comfort from the fact that by the time the sun expires, it is virtually certain that no DOS program written in 1982 will still be runnable. That said, Windows has a VASTLY SUPERIOR track record for maintaining backwards compatibility, and I do not expect that to change with introduction of Vista.
