I dunno. Perhaps it is where one clicks to enter the Edit Frame menu?

Crap, I just tried it again, and now it works! OK, never mind.
I wonder if the order in which I do things changes whether the
half-tie disappears or not? Because I tried it just before I send the
last reply, and it behaved as I said the last time I tried it.
