Heh heh! I think we can safely leave that question up to the conductor and the concert master, who have their own judgment about the relative strengths and weaknesses of their sections (as bigoted and politically-motivated as they may be...) 8-)

I suspect that the difference between a first and second violin is perhaps not as marked as say, the difference between a first and 4th horn, or a 1st and bass trombonist, who have made major equipment and training adjustments.
