It would be nice if Finale supported this automatically. It wouldn't be
too hard -- Finale could include separate placement options (over,
under, note-side, stem-side) for short, medium, and long slurs.
As long as we could specify where the dividing lines are -- is a short
slur 2 or 3 or 4 notes? A medium slur? Long slurs would of course be
everything else, but I think we'd really only need 2 divisions -- short
slurs and long slurs, since there are only 2 placement options (notehead
side or always above) under discussion.
