I would say no to the parentheses for courtesy accidentals. It's much
better for fast reading. If I see an accidental without parentheses I
automatically play it, no questions asked. If there are parentheses
there may be a moment of doubt: is this really an F-sharp, or was the
sharp added by the editor, or do I have the choice, etc. etc. until I
work out that it must be an F-sharp anyway.

reminding the reader to expect that particular accidental as part
of the key signature, but a respected NY composer arranger friend
feels that the parentheses are simply a distracting element. I
want to have everything that is necessary and useful in my music
but, if there's something that can be eliminated without harm, I'm
for it.
