Red Hat with KDE. By 'worst of both worlds' I meant screen real estate & graphics as well as applications (such as Finale) & usability. There were also no Linux drivers for my sound hardware. In other words, it doesn't improve usability to have a clean desktop with nothing on it, or a complicated program-within-OS-within-OS without media support that still has to be juryrigged. If the companies would port pro applications like Finale (not Lilypond), Photoshop (not Gimp), Audition (not Audacity), and Sonar (not.. well, is there anything?) to Linux (not Wine) along with drivers and decent Win/Mac-style installers (not this: http://www.alexandern.com/Photoshop_on_Linux_(how_to).html ), then I'm there. I'll pay for the upgrades of all of 'em! Dennis _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
