I've never argued that the graphics card doesn't matter. My argument all along has been that today's graphics cards are so powerful that even inexpensive models can easily render 2D faster than the CPU can feed it. Therefore, if you only care about 2D, there's no real performance gain to be had when opting for a more expensive video card.
